Let’s perk up the park with a new playground! |

Meeting: September 10, 2008, 7pm, Gompers Park Field House
My name is Gretchen Tate, and I am the chairperson of a new committee in the North Mayfair Improvement Association that seeks to renovate the playground at Gompers Park on Foster Avenue. As you may be aware, our playground is in poor condition, and in need of replacement. Many of our neighbors share this opinion, and wonder what it would take to obtain a new playground as other nearby neighborhoods have done. The Improvement Association has partnered with the Gompers Park Advisory Council to begin the process prescribed by the Chicago Park District, and we would like for our neighbors to be a part of it. By discussing the project together, we can reach a better understanding of what we all would like to see in a new playground, and efficiently and effectively pool our talents and efforts.

Our first committee meeting will be in September at the Gompers Park Field House located at 4222 West Foster Avenue.
In addition, we would like to extend a hearty “thank you” to our park supervisor, Denise Raymond, for her support for this initiative, and for ensuring that our baby swings and ladder were quickly repaired this summer. Also, thank you to Alderman Laurino for her advice and encouragement to pursue this project.
We are also grateful to the North Mayfair Improvement Association and Gompers Park Advisory Council for their willingness to take on this initiative.
